APNC - fast and accessible WordPress website

Rymd Communication contacted us at Itiden to help build a new website for their client APNC, which resulted in a fast, modern and easy-to-manage site.

CMS and setup

We set up and configured WordPress as the CMS. To build the content, we used WordPress's own page builder, Gutenberg, complemented by blocks connected to ACF (Advanced Custom Fields).

Custom blocks

To make it easy for APNC to manage and build content on their site, we created a set of entirely new Gutenberg blocks that can be used across all content pages. This included blocks for listing the company's services, their teams, and the hero section for each page.

Fast and accessible

The site is built according to best practice for loading images and content quickly and efficiently. At the same time, it was important that the site follows WCAG 2.1 AA. The result is a site that loads quickly and whose content can be consumed by everyone.

Development

Rymd and APNC worked together to develop a design and visual identity suited to the company and its target audience. Combined with a clear content structure and a structured design in Figma, turning the design into a WordPress theme became a smooth handoff between designers and developers.

As is often the case when we work with WordPress at Itiden, we try to avoid third-party plugins where possible in order to preserve security, stability and continuity for the editors managing the content. With that in mind, only a few well-documented and well-maintained plugins were installed, with ACF being essential for building blocks that can be adapted and maintained smoothly.

During the project, a strategy for handling cache was developed, which speeds up page loads without making it difficult to quickly preview changes and new content.

Continuous follow-ups with APNC and Rymd made it easy to follow the work on the development site we set up, so any corrections and fixes could be made efficiently and smoothly.

Close collaboration between Itiden, Rymd and APNC as the client resulted in an accessible, fast and modern site, where APNC can manage the content entirely on their own.
